The Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE) is pushing for health benefits for provincial government employees, including job order and Contract of Services workers.

In a resolution approved by its Board of Directors during its meeting Sept. 2, PACE is requesting Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson for the granting of health, hospitalization, and healthcare insurance benefits, for officials and provincial government employees.

It cited a Supreme Court case in September 2010 where the provincial government won a case against the Commission on Audit and sustained the payment of the hospitalization and healthcare insurance of its officials and employees.

In a separate resolution, PACE also called on Lacson for the granting of NOCHP (Negros Occidental Comprehensive Integrated Health Program) coverage, free medical and hospitalization services in all district and provincial hospitals of all JOs and COS.

The resolution said that JO and COS workers “are exposed from time to time to work hazard and thus some of them have already suffered injury or were involved in accidents while performing their duties.”

It added that the provincial government of Negros Occidental champions the workers’ welfare and recognizes the role of its workers in the delivery of services to the public, especially the JO and COS workers./GB
