About 18 stores at the public market in Brgy. Cabacungan, La Castellana in Negros Occidental went up in smoke in a structural fire that transpired early morning of April 10.
The La Castellana Fire Station personnel, headed by Senior Fire Officer 3 Eulogio Patriarca, are still investigating the cause of the conflagration, with initial damage estimated at P7 million.
Negros Occidental 5th District Rep. Dino Yulo immediately gave assistance to the affected store owners.
“It breaks my heart to see our fellow citizens suffer from such a devastating fire at Barangay Cabacungan Public Market. I am deeply saddened that 22 stores owned by their respective owners were totally damaged by the fire that lasted for hours,” Yulo said in a post.
“But let us not lose hope, as help is on the way. Today, we extend our hands to those affected by this tragedy, and we hope that this small act of kindness, including the cash assistance we have given, will provide comfort and ease in this difficult time. We will stand with you, and we will rebuild together,” he added./CGC
