The Dumaguete School Board approved P63.2 million worth of infrastructure projects, charged to the Special Education Fund, to address the shortage of classrooms in the city.
As per report of the Department of Education in Dumaguete, a two-storey, eight classroom school building is being constructed at South City Elementary School in Barangay Mangnao, worth P11.9 million;
A two-storey, eight classroom school building and improvement of covered stage for the Cadawinonan Elementary School, amounting to P12.5 million; and completion of a two-storey, two-classroom school building for Junob National High School, worth P4.2 million.

Also being constructed are the two-storey, two-classroom school building for Camanjac National High School, P10.6 million; two-storey, six-classroom building for Cantil-e Elementary School, P9 million; and a two-storey, eight-classroom building for North City Elementary School in Barangay Piapi, at P11.9 million.
Meanwhile, P1 million was allocated for the electrical upgrade at the Dumaguete City National High School, the city said Jan. 31.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo stressed the need to prioritize projects that will improve access and quality of education for students in public schools so they will be competitive and ready to perform well when they pursue their college education.
Stakeholders from the education sector thanked the city for funding the construction of school buildings and improvement of facilities, adding these projects will help address the shortage of classrooms in the concerned schools. ||
