Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod confiscated 98 boxes of alleged counterfeit food seasoning, valued at P470,000, during a buy-bust operation along the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway in Barangay Mansilingan Aug. 6.
The CIDG-Bacolod reported that the operation stemmed from a complaint filed in July by a major manufacturing company regarding counterfeit versions of their food seasoning product circulating in the city.
Following surveillance and a test-buy operation, authorities arrested two suspects: a 64-year-old Chinese national identified as alias “Shi”, of San Carlos City, and alias “Chen”, a 32-year-old Filipina residing in Barangay Granada, Bacolod.

Initial investigations revealed that the counterfeit items came from Luzon.
The suspects are currently in the CIDG-Bacolod custody and are facing charges for Trademark Infringement and Unfair Competition, under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. | TMD
