The Department of Public Works and Highways said it has successfully completed the widening of a section of the Dancalan-Candoni-Damutan Valley Road, worth P33.7 million, aimed at improving transportation and facilitating the smoother movement of goods and services in Ilog, Negros Occidental.

The project expanded a 766-meter stretch of the existing two-lane tertiary road by constructing additional lanes on both sides.

It also included pipe culverts, stone masonry, rubble concrete, and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, the DPWH said in a recent press release.

Implemented by DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office, the widened road will now be able to accommodate more vehicles, easing traffic flow and providing a more efficient and comfortable travel experience for road users and public commuters daily.

“With wider road space and better access to neighboring towns and barangays, local farmers and small business owners will no longer experience delays in transporting their goods and services,” the DPWH added. ||
