About 500 students of Jose J. Gonzaga Elementary School in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, benefit from the four-storey school building constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways Bacolod City District Engineering Office (DPWH-BCDEO).
The 315-square meter building features 12 classrooms designed to provide students and teachers with a more conducive learning environment, the agency said Aug. 8.
The DPWH-BCDEO, in its report to the Sangguniang Panlungsod on the status of projects, as of June, said the building is worth P30 million. The new building was inaugurated and turned over last month.
The building is equipped with essential amenities, such as water overhead tanks, closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.
DPWH6 director Sanny Boy Oropel, citing reports of District Engineer Abraham Villareal, highlighted the significance of the project and emphasized the transformative impact of the new classrooms.
“This new building aims to improve the educational facilities in Bacolod City. We understand the importance of providing a secure and well-equipped environment where students can focus on their studies,” Oropel said in a statement, adding that with the construction of these classrooms, students will have access to a better learning atmosphere, which is crucial for their academic growth.
“It’s not just about the infrastructure, it’s about creating a space where students feel motivated and supported in their educational journey,” Oropel stressed.
The new building aims to create a positive learning environment that fosters both security and academic excellence. By offering a well-furnished and enjoyable space, the project hopes to instill a positive mindset toward learning among students, enabling them to excel academically and personally, the DPWH added. ||
