P3.5-M in ‘shabu’ seized, 5 nabbed in buy-busts

Around P3.5 million in suspected shabu was seized, and five high-value targets arrested in two buy-bust operations of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives in Bacolod City May 11 and 12.

Five knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing around 500 grams, and with a standard drug price value of P3.4 million, were confiscated from alias “Nonoy”, 23, of Purok Boulevard in Barangay 14, Bacolod, during the drug-bust at about 3:55 a.m. May 12 in Barangay 10.

Also recovered were buy-bust money, an iPhone 11 cellular phone, and a black Suzuki Skydrive motorcycle, among others.

PDEA operatives from the Negros Island Region and Negros Occidental field offices, also seized 12 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 15 grams and worth P102,000 in a buy-bust in Purok Fire, Brgy. 8, Bacolod, at about 1:35 p.m. May 11.

The operation also led to the arrest of four high-value targets, who are all residents of Bacolod, and the dismantling of a drug den in the barangay, the PDEA-NIR said in a report May 13.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, it added. ||
