The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod is expected to pass the 2022 proposed budget of P3.25 billion on Nov. 10.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said that after the special session of the SP Nov. 1 to tackle the budgets of departments and offices, the body agreed to submit the proposal for third and final reading next week.
Familiaran added that the Committee on Finance, chaired by Councilor Cindy Rojas, substantially explained the allocation after about two hours of deliberations.
The budget is higher by P650 million, from the 2021 appropriation of P2.6 billion.
The increase is almost 25 percent, following the implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling.
Of the 2022 budget, P2.1 billion will come from the National Tax Allotment share of Bacolod, and P1.2 billion from local revenues. — MML
