Policemen seized an estimated P28.5 million worth of suspected shabu almost midnight Tuesday, May 19 following the arrest of a female suspect during a buy-bust at Purok Fatima, Islamic Center in Barangay 31, Bacolod City.

The operation carried out by the Bacolod City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO-CDEU) led to the arrest of alias “Bongi”, 36, and the recovery of 4.2 kilos of suspected shabu.

PBrig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, acting regional director of Police Regional Office- Negros Island Region, said they are further intensifying the anti-illegal drugs campaign as they have monitored numerous entry of illegal drugs across the region.

Cardiño, who lauded the BCPO-CDEU for a job well done, said they are trying to determine the source of suspected shabu taken from the arrested suspect, who is temporarily living in the village.

In separate buy-bust operations on May 16, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents and policemen also seized about  two kilos of suspected shabu valued at P13.7 million.

Three suspects were arrested at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 24, Bacolod City while a lone suspect was collared at Sitio Capagongan, Barangay Poblacion, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.

“We strongly warn all individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade to stop their unlawful activities now because the law will eventually catch up with them,” Cardiño said. | GB
