P26k in cash, sample ballots seized in San Enrique

A suspect carrying P26,000 in cash and sample ballots was  arrested on Oct, 29 after a brief chase with three complainants at Sitio Nasunugan in Barangay Batuan, San Enrique, Negros Occidental.

The 59-year-old suspect, whose identity was withheld by the police, was reported as an uncle of a candidate for barangay captain in the municipality.

He was monitored to have been carrying a yellow green transparent plastic parcel presumed to contain a sample ballot, according to one of the complainants, initial investigation showed.

When he was flagged down by the complainants, he refused to stop,  prompting  them to chase him and he was eventually intercepted.

The complainants were able to recover 52 sample ballots and P26,000 in cash from his possession.

The suspect, with the recovered cash and sample ballots, was endorsed to the San Enrique police for recording and booking purposes. | GB
