Nine suspects are now locked up in jail, following their arrests and recovery of more than P2.3 million in suspected shabu, two firearms, and an explosive on Jan. 5, 6 and 8 in Negros Occidental.
Two drug suspects, Mark Anthony Sorongon, 19, and Anthony Calantas, 31, were arrested Monday afternoon, during a buy-bust operation that yielded about P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu.
The operation at the old Bacolod Airport runway in Barangay Singcang-Airport was conducted by operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 8.
The arrest of two drug suspects, with aliases “Kid” and “Liezl”, in separate operations in Barangays Granada and also in Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City, yielded 122 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P1.1 million.
The live-in partner of “Liezl” identified only as “Escobar”, managed to escape.
A 52-year-old driver in Barangay 21, Victorias City, and a 24-year-old suspect in Barangay Magticol, Toboso, whose real identities were withheld by the police, were found possessing a caliber .45 pistol with six ammunition, a caliber .38 revolver with three live ammunition, and a hand grenade, according to reports of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
Three other drug suspects arrested by the police in Manapla town and in the cities of Victorias and Talisay yielded 36 sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 in marked money, and a caliber .38 revolver with two live ammunition.
In a statement, the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas lauded the accomplishments of both Bacolod City Police Office and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in their campaign to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms. | GB
