The Moises Padilla Elementary School (MPES) is now home to the first eco-school building project of World Vision in the Philippines, worth P14.84 million.

The construction of the sustainable, two-storey structure, that was unveiled and turned over Oct. 20, was made possible through funding secured by World Vision Korea from various Korean sponsors.

The brand-new building features a sustainable design that promotes learning while caring for the environment. It incorporates natural ventilation to significantly reduce energy use, and water tanks integrated with a rainwater catchment system to provide an alternative water source.

Each of the five classrooms is equipped with a lavatory, and one room specifically designed as a special science laboratory, the municipal government said in a press release, adding that the LGU provided essential technical assistance throughout the construction of the building.

The building also has gender-specific toilets, and the second floor features a mini-library connected to an open eco-garden, which serves as a hands-on learning space for students.

“Blending modern techniques with indigenous architecture, the building utilizes bamboo elements that reflect both cultural pride and sustainability, positioning it as a model for environmental responsibility in education,” the LGU said.

Rev. Fr. Gabriel Moncada of the San Isidro Labrador Parish blessed the building, with World Vision operations director Ajab Aram Macapagat and program officer Vincent Malilin, as well as Provincial Board Member Hadji Trojillo, Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo III, Sangguniang Bayan members, Schools Division superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales, DepEd district supervisor Gideon Panganiban, and MPES principal Rante Sait, among others, in attendance.

Garcia-Yulo also presented a plaque of appreciation to Macapagat in formal recognition of the organization’s generous donation. ||
