P13.3M in illegal drugs seized in Western Visayas

The week-long police anti-drug campaign in Western Visayas led to the arrest of 62 drug suspects and the recovery of about 1.9 kilos of suspected shabu worth P13.3 million.

From Sept. 1 to 7, 22 suspects were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) in 45 police operations.

The Iloilo City Police Office came in second with 15 arrested drug suspects; Bacolod City Police Office – 12;  Regional Police  Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6 – five ; Iloilo and Aklan PPO –  three each;  Capiz and Antique PPO – one each.

The NOCPPO also logged the biggest volume of confiscation that reached to P7.3 million followed by RPDEU-6 with P2.8 million, and Iloilo City Police Office,  P1 million.

In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, ordered unit commanders to keep pushing forward in identifying the accomplices of the arrested drug suspects.

“If evidence warrants, conduct law enforcement operations against those who are identified as involved,” Wanky said. | GB
