After extending help to victims of typhoon Odette in Negros Occidental, the provincial government is now focusing its efforts on the repair and rehabilitation of damaged government hospitals.
Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said Wednesday, May 25, that the provincial government has earmarked P10 million for the repair of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, that incurred damages when the typhoon hit in December last year.
Diaz said that the Merceditas J Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City and the Negros Residences and Negros First Food Terminal, that are operating under the supervision of the provincial government, also incurred damages.
These facilities are also up for major repairs, he added.
The Mambukal Mountain Resort in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, already opened to the public, after its repairs were completed.
On May 30, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson will distribute housing assistance to typhoon victims in Kabankalan City, in the cities of Cadiz and Victorias on May 31, and in Ilog on June 3.
Each family is entitled to receive P5,000, Lacson earlier said.
The financial assistance is part of the P91-million aid from the National Housing Authority./GB
