The provincial government of Negros Occidental has increased the reward, from P500,000 to P1.5 million, for any information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of provincial consultant Mariano Antonio “Marton” Cui.
Seven months after the murder of Cui in Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on April 12, authorities have yet to make a breakthrough in the identification or arrest of his assailants.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said any information that would lead to the capture of person/s behind his death may be relayed to Atty. Renoir Baldovino, head of the National Bureau of Investigation Bacolod District Office, at (034) 703-2931.
Police investigations showed that Cui was hit by long-range shots while he was about to board his vehicle outside his office at Emerald Arcade, F.C. Ledesma Avenue in Barangay Palampas.
Cui was used to be the chief of staff of former 1st District Rep. Julio Ledesma IV, and an executive assistant for political affairs of incumbent Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr., aside from being a consultant on hospital operations of the provincial government.
Aside from the NBI, a special task group was also organized by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office to track down the suspects behind the assassination of Cui. — GB
