The renewal of a driver’s license has been made easier and fixer-free, with the launching of the Online Driver’s License Renewal System (ODLRS) July 10, led by the Department of Transportation and other concerned agencies.
This is part of efforts to digitalize government transactions by improving online accessibility of services, while simplifying the renewal process, reducing physical transactions, and bringing public service closer to every Filipino.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said the online renewal system, which is now integrated with the eGovPH app, will prevent the public from dealing with fixers, allowing motorists to renew their driver’s licenses without being physically present at the LTO office.
“The President has directed the DICT and DOTr to make the processes involving the frontlines agencies, like LTO, more accessible and easier for the general public,” Dizon said at the launch, adding that through the LTO system, the five steps of the driver’s license renewal will be easily completed, including the medical examination and payment.
Secretary Henry Aguda of the Department of Information and Communications Technology said the eGovPH-generated electronic or e-driver’s license is valid in case the physical card is unavailable, adding this will be cascaded among enforcement agencies for implementation. | CGC
