The simulation exercises for Kanlaon Volcano eruption at Alert Level 4 spearheaded by the Negros Occidental provincial government went “smoothly’ on Saturday (July 5), the Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region (OCD-NIR) said.
The activity was participated by various agencies and departments, including the Bureau of Fire Protection, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Red Cross, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, and Department of Education together with the different offices of the provincial government.
The OCD-NIR observed and evaluated the conduct of the full-scale exercise, with deployed personnel in various areas while the simulation was ongoing.

Some personnel remained at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Emergency Operations Center and monitored Kanlaon Volcano’s activity while others joined the logistics in transporting welfare goods from the warehouse to the camp.
Some personnel joined in fetching the evacuees from their respective areas.
The simulation exercise commenced and concluded at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
When the internally displaced persons (IDPs) arrived at the Panaad Park, they were brought to a holding area and were given snacks while waiting for their turn at the screening and registration area.
Medical personnel assessed the condition of the IDPs and gave prescriptions and medications or vitamins as needed. ||
