The summary executions of civilians perpetrated by remnants of the New People’s Army (NPA) continues, following its admission of killing three more victims in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
In a statement, the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command said its special operations unit carried out a punitive action against Buboy Carsona in Sitio Cagayon, Barangay Paitan on March 4.
The rebel group alleged that Carsona was “proven guilty by the people’s revolutionary court” for the murder of Martino Fuentes Jr. in 2024.
They also killed Eddie Catipay, a tanod chief, and Jerry Lapus, a construction worker, in Barangay Pinapugasan on Feb. 28.
The NPA alleged that Catipay was an intelligence asset while they linked Lapus to the encounter in Sitio Mansulao on Feb. 21, 2024, which led to the death of two Red fighters and a farmer.
Catipay was shot by the assailants in front of his fellow barangay tanods, according to the police.
The NPA claimed to have seized two caliber .45 pistols and a 357 revolver with ammunition from the two victims.
The Escalante City police confirmed the shooting incident involving Lapus in Sitio Biga.
Lapus was gunned down outside his house by the same group of rebels, who also killed Catipay, police investigation showed. | GB
