The New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility in the killing of a former Isabela town councilor in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
In a statement, the Romeo Nanta Command in southern Negros said they have “successfully carried out the imposition of death penalty” on Rodulfo Fajardo, 72, whom they accused of committing crimes against the people.
Fajardo, alias “Dulpo”, succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries after he was shot on April 12.
The NPA claimed that Fajardo, as a former detachment commander stationed in Barangay Cansalongon, Isabela, was among the key organizers of Alsa Masa, an anti-revolutionary group, in the area.
Fajardo was driving a 125 Honda XRM motorcycle and traveling from Sitio Manuleta towards Sitio JMA in Barangay Payao when he was waylaid by four men, who fled on two motorcycles, according to the police. | GB
