NOPSSCEA seniors basketball champion Colegio de Sta Ana de Victorias Titans are looking forward to the resumption of collegiate competitions once the threat of COVID-19 pandemic is lifted.
Titans team manager and CSA-V Sports Officer-In-Charge Paul Oliver Cruz said they hope to resume training again in the first quarter of 2021 in preparation for the NOPSSCEA Season and the UNIGAMES.
The CSA-V Titans, led by playmaker Jeff Manday, are the defending champions both in the NOPSSCEA seniors basketball and the UNIGAMES.
But while health protocols are in place, Cruz said their players are training individually as they cannot conduct team practices and face to face trainings.
“We let our players focus on their online classes. They are enjoying the same scholarship as they did last year,” Cruz said.
As to the composition of the team, he said that they have a number of recruits from the CSA-V juniors team that finished first runner-up to Bacolod Tay Tung High School in last year’s NOPSSCEA Season.
“Some members of the championship squad have either graduated or have no more playing years,” Cruz said.
NOPSSCEA three-time Most Valuable Player Jeff Manday, who led the Titans to every championship, was among those who graduated and is now ready to play in the semi-pro and the PBA D-League, Cruz said.
“Jeff is currently in Bacolod and he’s doing heavy personal training. Mr. Ramon Paulo Cruz (his manager) and the school (CSAV) will continue to support him,” the Titans team manager said. – NAB
