The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative said Thursday its average residential rate this billing month of April decreased by P0.5144 per kilowatt-hour, due to lower generation charges.

This means that Noneco consumers will pay P13.6705 per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed, from last month’s rate of P14.1849/kWh.

The generation rate slash of about 4.90 percent was mainly attributed to lower fuel cost of power generators Palm Concepcion Power Corporation, and Panay Energy Development Corporation that have supply agreements with Noneco.

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative also earlier reported decreases in their power rates this month, likewise due to lower generation charges.

Ceneco’s rate is at P12.7371/kWh, or a reduction of P0.9345/kWh, from the P13.6716/kWh rate in March.

Noceco, meanwhile, said there is a P1.1062/kWh drop in its residential rate, or from P15.4918/kWh last month to the current P14.3856/kWh./CGC
