The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. announced today, Sept. 22, that its residential rate for this month further increased to P13.9704 per kilowatt-hour from the P13.8213 per kWh rate in August.

It added that the generation, transmission, and system loss charge was P10.6504, distribution supply and metering charge at P1.6109, universal charges and value-added tax at P1.3228, and other charges at P0.0959.

“The increase in the generation rate is due to the high cost of electricity in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, priced at P10.1628 per kWh, originated from the damaged submarine cable of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines,” Noneco said.

The high residential rate was also due to the increase of the fuel fee of Palm Concepcion Power Corp., from P2.7827 to P3.6168 per kWh, it added.

Noneco serves member-consumers in the cities of Cadiz, Victorias, Sagay, Escalante, and San Carlos, as well as the towns of Toboso, E.B. Magalona, Calatrava, and Manapla.

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. earlier said the average residential rate for the billing month of September 2021 is P12.2602 per kWh, from last month’s rate of P12.3724 per kWh.

It added that the P0.1122 per kWh rate decrease can be attributed to the reduction in generation, transmission, system loss charges and other pass through charges such as Lifeline & Senior Citizens Discount, GRAM ICERA adjustment, and VAT.

The pass-through charges, equivalent to P11.0736 per kWh of the total power rate, include the generation and transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes, Atty. Danny Pondevilla, project supervisor/acting general manager of Ceneco, said.

Meanwhile, Noneco said there will be a nine-hour brownout that will affect the whole of Toboso and some portion of Escalante, including barangays Libertad, Pinapugasan, Mabini, Udtongan, Japitan, and Rizal on Sept. 25.

The outage, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be due to the replacement of rotten primary poles of Toboso feeder in Brgy. Mabini and Curva Hagnaya.

A similar power interruption will affect portion of Cadiz, like barangays Sicaba, Cadiz Viejo, and the line from Crossing Caduha-an to Hda. Chambery, also on Saturday.

Noneco said the outage, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will affect the 5MVA IPI Substation due to the continuing rehabilitation of the primary line, from Crossing Caduha-an to Camay-an, Brgy. Cadiz Viejo.– CGC
