The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has deployed 595 personnel to safeguard domestic and international tourists expected to visit various destinations in the province during the summer.
In a statement on Monday, April 7, PCol. Rainerio de Chavez, police provincial director, said that NOCPPO assures the public that it is fully prepared for security measures.
This deployment under the Oplan Ligtas Summer Vacation (SUMVAC) is in addition to the regular police force present in various police stations, who will continue their standard operations, De Chavez said.
NOCPPO also established 278 police assistance desks (PADs) in recreational areas, religious sites, terminals, ports, and other gathering places.
These PADs will remain operational throughout the SUMVAC period.
Additionally, beat patrollers and undercover police personnel will be deployed to enhance security coverage.
To manage traffic and ensure safe travel, De Chavez said road safety marshals and traffic personnel will be stationed along major routes, with force multipliers to be mobilized to supplement the personnel and maximize security efforts.
De Chavez further said he will lead an inspection team to assess the readiness of police officers manning the PADs.
He also designated area supervisors, consisting of officers from NOCPPO, to oversee various deployment areas across the six congressional districts of Negros Occidental.
De Chavez also reminded the public to remain vigilant against criminal elements who may attempt to exploit the vacation rush to commit crimes. | GB
