PCol.  Dennis Wenceslao, police provincial director of Negros Occidental, issued a stern warning of no mercy to erring police officers in the wake of the recent killing of three policemen and a civilian in Negros Oriental perpetrated by another police officer.

“Zero tolerance, no second chance, and no mercy for erring policemen,” Wenceslao said, adding that those who are performing well in their duties will also be given awards.

On Jan. 12, Wenceslao led the staff and commanders of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) in a courtesy call on Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

He assured the people of Negros Occidental that police chiefs across the province are in full control of their respective areas and have spiritual advisers in providing guidance and moral support to their personnel.

Lacson said the incident in Negros Oriental should serve as a warning to all police provincial directors (PDs).

“What happened in Sibulan is a case where all PDs in the country should take note, especially the way police officers should behave in civilian clothes,” the governor said. “Whether they are in uniform or in civilian clothes, it is expected that they behave professionally”.

The killing of a town police chief, two police officers, and a woman on Jan. 9 in Sibulan, Negros Oriental was attributed by the Philippine National Police to severe alcohol intoxication and personal grudge.

Meanwhile, Wenceslao installed the new police chiefs of Silay, Himamaylan, and Bago cities also on Monday.

PLt. Col. Edison Garcia is now the officer-in-charge of Silay City Police Station, replacing PLt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca.

PLt. Col. Anthony Grande was succeeded by PLt. Col. Kim Lopez as Himamaylan City police chief while PLt. Col. James Latayon Jr. took over the command of Bago City Police Station from PLt. Col. John Ganzon.

Darroca, Grande, and Ganzon were assigned at the NOCPPO headquarters in Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City, pending their new assignments after rendering duties to their former assignments for two years. | GB
