Member-consumers of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative will have substantial savings from their electricity bills this May.

Noceco said May 13 that its average residential rate decreased by P3.58 per kilowatt-hour, which means that customers will be paying P12.02/kWh this billing month, from the P15.61/kWh rate in April.

For a household with an average consumption of 200kWh, the rate reduction means savings of around P716 in their total electricity bill.

Noceco said that main reason for this significant decrease is the reduction in the generation charge, which declined from P8.6067/kWh in April to P6.2267 this month, or a slash of P2.38/kWh.

“This favorable change is primarily attributed to a significant reduction in the cost of power sourced from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, which decreased by P3.8265/kWh, or from P10.5620 in April to P6.7355/kWh this May,” its advisory said.

Noceco iterated its commitment to provide reliable and affordable electricity service to its consumers in Pulupandan, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pontevedra, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan, Sipalay, Hinoba-an, and La Carlota City.

It also urged consumers to continue practicing energy conservation to manage their electricity consumption and lower their monthly bills. | CGC
