Residential consumers of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative will pay P13.0620 per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed this billing month of August, from the P16.1134/kWh rate in July.

Noceco, in its advisory Aug. 13, said that its total residential electricity rate decreased by P3.0514/kWh due to lower generation charge, driven by the P6.3907/kWh reduction in the cost of electricity bought from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.

The spot market price went down to P8.6359/kWh this month, from P15.0266 in July, as per the Noceco.

Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) and GNPower Kauswagan (GNPK), that have power supply agreements with Noceco, also reduced costs by P0.0372 and P0.1025/kWh, respectively, the distribution utility said.

Noceco’s Distribution, Supply, and Metering (DSM) charges remain unchanged since February 2010, regardless of the monthly movements in the overall electricity rate.

“Member-consumers are advised to be aware of their energy consumption to avoid paying high electricity bill,” the Noceco said in the advisory, adding it continues to find better solutions to mitigate the impact of the volatile electricity prices being experienced by the power industry.
