The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) said its total electricity rates for the billing month of June decreased by P0.6152 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which means that consumers will be paying P11.4110/kWh, from last month’s rate of P12.0262.
The decrease was mainly due to the reduced cost of power from suppliers, as well as the cost of electricity purchased from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), which logged a P0.9874/kWh reduction, Noceco said in its advisory June 17.
This led to a substantial drop in the generation charge at P5.8665/kWh, from P6.2267 in May, it added. “The transmission and systems loss charges also decreased in June compared to May.”

The current rate decrease reflected natural fluctuations in power generation and transmission costs, the electric cooperative stressed, adding that it remains committed to providing reliable and affordable electricity service to its customers.
Noceco continues to encourage its member-consumers from Pulupandan, Valladolid, La Carlota City, San Enrique, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Binalbagan, Isabela, Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City, Ilog, Cauayan, Candoni, Sipalay City, and Hinoba-an to remain mindful of their electricity usage to avoid paying high power bills. | CGC
