More than a year to go before the 2022 national and local elections, Senate majority floor leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said that he has no plans of seeking a much higher position in government.
“You’re just going to hit yourself in the head with a hammer,” Zubiri said, in reply to a question if he will run for vice president or president in the 2022 synchronized elections.
Zubiri, whose family has roots in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, said that he wants to return to the Senate, to help Negrenses, among others.
“Ambition clouds judgment,” he stressed.
Zubiri also said that he will just concentrate on his work, and make sure that Negrenses and those in the Visayas and Mindanao will have projects.
“I am advocacy driven, not ambition driven,” Zubiri said, adding that he is elated to be included in the top five senatorial candidates for 2022.
“I want to maintain it and I have no plans whatsoever for a higher office,” he said. – GB
