An alleged member of the dismantled Northern Negros Front of the New People’s Army, who ranks number two in the list of most wanted persons in Western Visayas, was arrested by the police in Barangay Puey, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
The apprehension of the 52-year-old fugitive, known only through his aliases Boboy and Poloy, came after the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by the Regional Trial Court for two counts of murder.
The arrested suspect was denied bail by the court.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, said that the arrest of the wanted person is a manifestation of the police’s commitment in enforcing the law and in giving justice to the victims.
The successful operation was conducted by the Sagay City Police Station, which was assisted by the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company and 65th Special Action Company of the Special Action Battalion-Western Visayas.
On Aug. 27, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office accounted for 13 wanted persons while the Bacolod City Police Office netted two other fugitives. | GB
