The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) donated a pick-up vehicle to the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station on July 17 to boost peace and order efforts in the northern Negros municipality.

In a press release, E.B. Magalona Mayor Matthew Louis Malacon said the police patrol vehicle is a big boost in maintaining zero crime incident in the town’s 23 villages.

“We want to maintain peace and order to ensure the safety of my constituents and all the businesses in the town,” he added.

Malacon said to sustain economic growth of E.B. Magalona as a first-class municipality, he needs to empower the police force.

He thanked the NGCP for supporting the town’s peace and order campaign.

“We are just giving back,” NGCP-Negros public relations officer Michelle Visera said.

She said the NGCP is grateful to the local government for hosting the 22-kilometer submarine cable going to Barotac Viejo in Iloilo.

The 230-kV (kilovolt) submarine cable, composed of three 1,600 mm2 XLPE conductors, is part of the Cebu-Negros-Panay Interconnection Project inaugurated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in April last year.

E.B. Magalona also hosts NGCP’s transmission towers serving as “highway for electricity” in the entire Negros Occidental. ||
