Bacolod Councilor Homer Bais is pushing for a new route for trucks carrying garbage for disposal to the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.

Bais said the city government already identified an alternative pathway through private agricultural lands along the Bacolod Economic Highway directly to the landfill, and is currently working on acquiring the property.

He said that once purchased, heavy garbage truck traffic will be diverted away from the residential center of Barangay Felisa to safeguard the residents’ health and well-being.

Residents have been complaining about the foul odor coming from garbage trucks passing through their areas, as well as the stench from the landfill itself.

They raised serious health concerns, pointing out that trash-hauling vehicles also often park close to the Barangay Hall and school. | TMD
