The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas officially turned over the newly-constructed Pagbatangan Child Development Center (CDC) in Brgy. Bagonbon to the local government of San Carlos Jan. 16.
The DSWD6 funded the center worth P1,455,614.54 under the Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Kalahi-CIDSS-PAMANA) program.
The facility was built from September to November 2024 and will serve as a vital resource for early childhood development in the area, the city said Jan. 17.

The center’s construction was under the supervision of Engr. Axel Harris Chua-Kaw of DSWD6, Engr. Gaspar Saavedra of the City Engineering Department, and the City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office.
Kalahi-CIDSS is a community-driven development project that aims to empower communities through enhanced participation in community projects that reduce poverty. Pamana is a priority program of the government that supports the peace negotiation track and contributes to the goal of attaining just and lasting peace.
Community empowerment facilitator Steffany Clou Castro, punong barangay Lolita Chan, kagawads Landine Cañabano and Jericho Vergavera, child development worker Geraldine Guylan, social welfare assistant Jiliadez Fernandez, social welfare aide Dorcas Deogracia, and social welfare officer II Lavern Rigor attended the center turnover.
DSWD6 area coordinator Kriza Mae Germo thanked San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo and City Planning and Development coordinator, Engr. Magnolia Antonio, for their support throughout the project. ||
