Consumers served by Negros Power will pay P11.4766 each kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed this billing month of March, from P12.1477/kWh in February.
The P0.6711/kWh reduction was attributed to lower generation and transmission charges, Negros Power said in a statement March 18, adding the “reduction in electricity rates will directly benefit consumers, providing them with more disposable income and easing the financial burden of their monthly bills.”
This is the first power rate reduction for 2025, after the P0.4506/kWh increase in last month’s billing, and P0.5095/kWh in January.
Negros Power said prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market dropped by P0.5142/kWh, while the Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) Emergency Power Supply Agreement rate also decreased by P0.0267/kWh, or at P6.1368 from last month’s cost of P6.1635/kWh.
It noted that Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) also implemented a temporary baseload discount of P0.15/kWh for the whole year.
Negros Power has supply agreements with PCPC and GCGI.
It added that the rate reduction is reflected in the bills that consumers from Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto started receiving March 16. | CGC
