Negros Power rates down by P0.66/kWh

The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) has announced that its average residential electricity rates dropped by P0.66 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the month of May.

This was triggered by the significant reduction of Wholesale Electricity Spot Market price.

The average residential rate for the month is now at P11.6958 per kWh, a decrease of P 0.6605 from the April rate of P12.3563 per kWh.

Additionally, Negros Power said the emergency power supply agreement rate from Palm Concepcion Power Corp. also dropped by P0.2085 per kWh.

Transmission charges have also seen a favorable adjustment, it added.

The power delivery service charge dropped from P221.2450 per kWh to P218.4299 per kWh, translating to a P2.82 per kWh decrease.

Additionally, ancillary services charges went down by P29.31 per kWh, resulting in an overall average reduction of P0.2265 per kWh in transmission charges for residential customers.

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) also reported that its electricity rates will drop by P3.58 per kWh in May.

Noceco said its electricity rate for May is P12.0262 per kWh, which is P3.5842 lower compared to April which was at P15.6104 per kWh. | GB
