These include the installation of modern high-definition CCTV systems in crime-prone and high-traffic areas in the 3rd Congressional District, with a project cost of P180 million, for endorsement to the Department of Information and Communications Technology central office; and the request to the Philippine Ports Authority to fast-track the feasibility studies for the Bais and Sta. Catalina ports, which aim to strengthen trade, tourism, and regional connectivity.

The Economic Development Committee (EDC), meanwhile, presented several resolutions for endorsement, covering the CY 2027 Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) of the Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Science and Technology, Philippine Coconut Authority, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority, Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Tourism.

The PDC also endorsed the Top 10 priority programs of the provincial government for inclusion in the FY 2027 budget proposals of regional line agencies and state universities and colleges, the Capitol said in a press release Feb. 22.

One proposal discussed was the establishment of a provincial sanitary landfill and a treatment, storage, and disposal facility to be located in Barangay Paniabonan, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, with a proposed funding of P300 million through the DOT-Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.

This project underscores the province’s commitment to sustainable environmental management and long-term ecological protection, the Capitol stressed.

The PDC ExeCom meeting highlighted the provincial government’s proactive coordination with national agencies to secure funding support and ensure the inclusion of priority projects in the national budget.

Through strategic planning and strong inter-agency collaboration, the PDC continues to pave the way for inclusive growth, improved public services, enhanced infrastructure, and sustainable development for all NegOrenses.

The province remains steadfast in advancing programs that promote economic resilience, public safety, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation, reinforcing Negros Oriental’s path toward lasting progress, the Capitol stressed. ||
