Negros Occidental barangays get aid

Insurance claims worth more than P1 million were released to 19 beneficiaries of the Tripartite Barangay Insurance Program of the provincial government of Negros Occidental Jan. 20.

The recipients of the life insurance checks were the families of former barangay tanods, kagawads, barangay health workers, and barangay officials from the towns of Calatrava, E.B. Magalona, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Cauayan, and Ilog, as well as the cities of Sagay, Victorias, Silay, Talisay, Bago, and Kabankalan.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, led the ceremonial distribution of the checks at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

The Barangay Insurance Program has been one of the provincial government’s flagship and high-impact programs for the past 24 years, and is now being facilitated by the Provincial Planning and Development Office, the Capitol said. ||
