Despite the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Negros Occidental will retain its 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily curfew hours and capacity limits in the operations of business establishments, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said.
Lacson said some experts believe that it is too early to place the National Capital Region under Alert Level 3 from Alert Level 4, effective Oct. 16, amid the drop in COVID cases in the country’s metropolis.
The relaxation of the COVID alert level in Metro Manila will pave the way for the reopening of more businesses.
Lacson has also approved the request of Philippine Airlines for special flights for fully vaccinated individuals from Manila to Negros Occidental, starting today, Oct. 18, until Nov. 29.
But he said that Negros Occidental will still enforce the curfew hours, and will ensure that the 30 percent capacity limits on business establishments and religious activities will be strictly followed.
The Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health and Development reported yesterday that Negros Occidental logged an additional 153 COVID cases, while Bacolod recorded 87 new infections. — GB
