Another batch of livelihood assistance, worth P476,500, was turned over to beneficiaries through the Provincial Swine Industry Recovery Initiatives and the Animal Genetic Improvement and Livelihood Programs of the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
Distributed for production were swine, sheep, ducks, cattle, and free-range chickens, the Capitol said Feb. 26.
The animals were sourced from provincial government-run farms, including the Negros First Ranch in Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Murcia, and the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm in Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and provincial veterinarian, Dr. Placeda Lemana, led the ceremonial turnover at the Capitol in Bacolod City Feb. 25.
Recipients of the assistance included farmers’ and fisherfolk associations from various towns and cities across Negros Occidental, as well as selected eco-tourism sites that integrate livestock production into their community-based enterprises.
The livelihood initiative aims to boost livestock productivity in local government units throughout the province and forms part of the continuing implementation of animal productivity and genetic improvement programs under the Provincial Veterinary Office. ||
