Another member of the clergy, a doctor from a private hospital and three government employees are among the 30 new COVID-19 cases in Negros Oriental.
The clergy is from Tanjay City and is now at the isolation center of a private hospital in Dumaguete City.
He is said to be asymptomatic, the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force reported.
The doctor is also in isolation at the same hospital where he works as he turned positive of the virus on Jan. 18, his swab test result showed.
Three government employees and two workers from private offices, all based in Dumaguete City, were also added to the list of new COVID-19 positive.
Dr. Liland Estacion, assistant provincial health officer of Negros Oriental, in a press conference Tuesday, said the province has a total of 1,244 positive cases with 34 deaths, 988 recoveries and 220 active cases in different isolation facilities of LGUs.
Estacion admitted there is a noticeable spike of cases in the province, as she called on residents to follow minimum health protocols and avoid activities outside of their residences as contact tracing is still underway for the close contacts of the 30 new cases. – MML
