Police in Negros Oriental seized close to P54.2 million worth of shabu in the first half of this year.
Based on its latest data, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) seized 7.969 kg of shabu worth P54.195 million, along with 197 grams of marijuana, worth P23,000.
A total of 277 anti-illegal drug operations were also conducted across the province in the same period.
Of the 293 persons arrested, 32 were high-value individuals, 250 were street-level individuals and 11 were not listed in the NOrPPO’s list of drug suspects.
“Majority of the illegal drugs seized during the first half of this year were from enhanced and sustained police operations as part of the PNP’s focus crimes,” Lt. Stephen Polinar, NOrPPO spokesperson, told the Philippine News Agency July 1.
Polinar, who was also recently designated as the provincial chief of the Tourist Police, said they are securing places of convergence, such as resorts, hotels, and restaurants to curb the illegal drug trade.
He said uniformed police officers are out round-the-clock, whether on foot or mobile patrol, as part of regular anti-criminality operations. ||
