PCol. Rainerio de Chavez, provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), has joined many of his colleagues in supporting the designation of PMaj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III as the next chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Torre is the first graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to occupy the position of PNP chief, ending the dominance of the Philippine Military Academy graduates to ascend to such position.

De Chavez, also a graduate of PNPA, described such appointment as “historic”.

“It marks a significant milestone. His (Torre) journey reflects not only personal dedication and excellence, but also the values instilled in us at the Academy – integrity, service, and commitment to public safety,” the NOCPPO chief said in a statement.

De Chavez added: “With his leadership, I am confident that the PNP will continue to advance its mission of ensuring peace and order, upholding the rule of law, and fostering strong community relations.”

“As we face the challenges of modern policing, I look forward to collaborating with him to implement innovative strategies that enhance our operational effectiveness and community engagement,” he said. | GB
