Ninety-one health workers from the two government hospitals in Negros Occidental were among the first group of frontliners given the boosters shots on Nov. 17 and 18.
Of the number, 38 received their third dose against the coronavirus disease at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay, and 40 at the Cadiz District Hospital.
TLJPH chief, Dr. Mary Anne Maesral, said they have a master-list of medical personnel due for booster shots before the guidelines came out Tuesday, and 26 nurses were inoculated Wednesday and 12 nurses yesterday. They are rendering duty at the Emergency Room and COVID Ward Section of the hospital.
Maestral said some 350 health workers are due for booster shots, but priority will be given to health workers who have direct contact with patients.
The booster shots will be done by batch so as not to affect the operation of the hospital, in case of adverse reaction after vaccination.
At the Cadiz District Hospital, chief nurse Randy Peacita said they administered booster shots to 32 nurses Wednesday and 21 health workers, including midwives, nursing aides, and admin staff directly exposed to frontliners, yesterday.
Dr. Claudelia Pabillo, who is in charge of the vaccine distribution of the province, said that other provincial-managed hospitals will start giving booster vaccination to their health workers on Monday.
These include municipal and city health workers.
