The Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH) is celebrating its 80th founding anniversary, with the grand opening celebration and a groundbreaking scientific conference held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City recently.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, government officials, and community partners to honor the hospital’s legacy and promote advancements in medical science.

A scientific lecture on “New Approaches in the Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation” was the highlight on day one of the celebration July 198, aimed at updating medical practitioners on the latest innovations in cardiovascular care.
Governor Chaco Sagarbarria expressed his support and pride for NOPH’s contributions to public health and its commitment to providing quality medical services in Negros Oriental.
“Celebrating 80 years of unwavering service, our hospital stands as a testament to resilience, dedication, and continuous progress. Over the decades, we have transformed lives and strengthened our community through unwavering commitment and innovative care,” Sagarbarria said in a Capitol press release July 19.
“As we look to the future, we are excited to embrace new advancements and further improve health outcomes. We eagerly await the realization of the NOPH Medical City, our next chapter in delivering exceptional healthcare and building a healthier tomorrow for all,” he added.
Dr. Marc Angelo Llosa, NOPH chief, emphasized the importance of continuous medical education and innovation. “This scientific conference underscores our commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements to serve our patients better.”
Other notable speakers included Dr. Liland Zoila Estacion – provincial health officer, and Dr. Mark Anthony Aranas, chief of Hospital at Bais Hospital, who both highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in healthcare improvement.
The event not only celebrated the hospital’s rich history but also reinforced its ongoing mission to deliver exemplary health services and foster medical innovation within Negros Oriental.
Established in 1945, NOPH has been a cornerstone of healthcare in Negros Oriental, providing comprehensive medical services and community health programs for eight decades.
The celebration will end on July 24 with various outreach activities. ||
