Initial losses of P2.53 million in agricultural crops and fisheries were reported in Negros Occidental due to heavy rains and flooding caused by southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storms Mirasol, Nando and Opong.
This is based on the report of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist as of Sept. 29 submitted to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Some 116.40 hectares of agricultural crops in 18 barangays of Moises Padilla, Isabela, Don Salvador Benedicto, and San Carlos City were damaged by flooding, affecting 159 farmers.
The damage was estimated by OPA at P2.415 million.
Four fishing boat operators in barangays of Looc and Bantayanon in Calatrava reported losses of P115,000 after their fishing boats were destroyed.
Eight houses were damaged in Silay City and E.B. Magalona while another one was reported destroyed in Bago City. | GB
