NEDF repays loan of P5-M

The Negros Economic Development Foundation (NEDF) Inc. turned over a check for P5 million to the provincial government of Negros Occidental Feb. 16, as payment of the loan assistance granted to the organization.

The NEDF availed of a P5 million financial assistance from the province, for its Binalbagan Socialized Housing Project in Brgy. Enclaro, Binalbagan in 2019. It was required to submit a terminal report and return the P5M project fund to the province after the project completion.

The repayment was turned over by NEDF president, Wilhelmina Gonzales, to Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, at the Capitol in Bacolod City, together with NEDF vice chairperson, Dr. Ma. Mercedes Joson, executive director Rose Depra, and corporate secretary Eduardo Jereza.

NEDF has proven its success in the implementation of various projects in Negros Occidental, such as socialized housing, agricultural development, environmental initiatives, health, and entrepreneurship, a press release from the Capitol said.

Meanwhile, the PhilRice Negros Station donated 695 packs of milled rice to the provincial government, through director Gerardo Estoy Jr.

The Oriental Mindoro Seed Producers Multi-Purpose Cooperative also donated 10,820kg of rice seeds, through the coordination efforts of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, PhilRice Negros Station, province of Oriental Mindoro, Office of the Civil Defense, Philippine Coast Guards of Iloilo and Bacolod, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The donations were received by executive assistant to the governor, Francis Velez, and will be distributed to typhoon-affected LGUs as the province continues its relief operations every week. — NND
