A Bacolod councilor is proposing that the third Sunday of October and the next three days thereafter be declared the annual “Namit Guid” MassKara food festival.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, said Bacolod is famously known “not only for the people’s genuine smiles and mellow voices, but also for the delicious cuisine it offers”.

He said that in line with the City’s initiative to promote the best of Bacolod, a food festival, ancillary to the annual MassKara Festival, is ideal in primarily showcasing local Bacolodnon cuisine of all types and kinds.

The “Namit Guid” venue shall change on a yearly basis, upon the deliberation and discretion of the Namit Guid MassKara Food Festival Council that will be created, Villarosa said.

He proposed a P1 million funding to defray the expenses for the conduct of various activities during the celebration.

Villarosa’s proposed ordinance has been approved on first reading by the SP, and is up for public hearing soon./CGC
