Murder charges were filed by the police against the companion of a Bacolod policeman, who was found dead near a sugarcane plantation in Brgy. Pilar, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental Jan. 23.
P/Capt. Ryan Villasario, Hinigaran police chief, yesterday identified the respondent in the murder case as Constancio Canoy, companion of P/Cpl. Nestor Madelo, of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 5. The charges were filed before a regional trial court in Himamaylan City Jan. 25.
Villasario claimed that Canoy had intention to kill Madelo, since he did not brought the police officer, who was injured in a vehicular accident in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City, to a hospital.
Instead, he brought Madelo to Hinigaran, bypassing medical facilities along the way, Villasario said.
Madelo was found with a fatal injury in the face, and other minor wounds. Based on the result of the post mortem examination, he died due to traumatic head injury, caused by a blunt object, Villasario added.
Police investigation showed that Canoy was driving a Carry vehicle, with Madelo as passenger, when they figured in an accident. |GB
