Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas said July 10 that he may run for 3rd District Board Member of Negros Occidental in the 2028 elections.

Rojas said that Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura will run for mayor, while Councilor Kedy Yu will try for the vice mayor post.

He added that both he and Reosura are on their third and final term in their respective posts.

Rojas’ announcement followed a confirmation from Andrew Montelibano, the current 3rd District BM, that he intends to run for mayor of the town, the post he held from 2010-2019.

“Board Andrew declared a long time ago that he would run in 2028. He is already campaigning; I know that, and I have known that for a long time,” Rojas said. “I might be running since Board Andrew is also in his final term.”

Meanwhile, Rojas noted that the recent raid on Montelibano’s property in E.B. Magalona falls outside their jurisdiction, stating that they will leave the matter entirely in the hands of the police. | TMD
