Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island emitted ash again on Wednesday (Feb. 5), according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Mari-Andylene Quintia, resident volcanologist at the Kanlaon Observatory, said the weak ash emission lasted for six minutes.

The latest emission generated grayish plumes reaching 500 meters above the crater and drifted southwest.

State seismologists said they recorded six volcanic earthquakes around Kanlaon.

Entry into the four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone remains prohibited as the volcano remains under Alert Level 2.

Quintia alerted communities at the foot of Kanlaon Volcano as Tropical Storm Basyang approaches Negros Island. | GB
