A woman was shot dead in front of her son in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Saturday, July 24.
Melaurine Pagunsan, 48, of Purok Perez in Barangay 2 Poblacion, was walking with her 18-year-old son towards their store when an unidentified gunman wearing a black jacket and a bonnet, shot her in the head.
Pontevedra Municipal Police Station chief, P/Capt. Hancel Lumandaz, said they are looking into personal grudge as motive for the killing, adding that investigators have uncovered a warrant for the crime of estafa in 2018 but it was not immediately known if it had been served.
Lumandaz said the victim was not a drug personality in the area.
The body was subjected to post-mortem examination by P/Maj. West Edquila of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Medico Legal Office, while the investigation of the Pontevedra MPS continues. — MML
